Amman - Jordan
This project challenges the norms of typical office buildings in Amman. Located along Zahran St, in a relatively high-end zone, it has a built-up area of approximately 2,500m2 and 7 floors. The brief set out to create an efficient and healthy working environment with open office spaces. To retain an overall unified image for the streetscape, The Greater Amman Municipality has set out certain guidelines for the architecture of that particular area, so our design had to fit within these set of rules. The design approach maintains Ammani heritage whilst creating a sense of individuality using modern techniques. Unlike typical office buildings, the approach was to minimize the ratio of glass to incorporate more traditional stone cladding into the façade to maintain the local vernacular of the area. In addition, green elements were incorporated into the façade to create a sense of serenity for the employees to break away from the busy streets of Amman. In the end, the design adhered to the CDD requirements and matched local authority codes and regulations.
