Birzeit - Palestine
Located on Birzeit University grounds, next to the Palestine Museum and the Birzeit University Academic Campus where there is an active student and research community. The building features 7 floors with a total built-up area of 9,500m2. The Palestine- India Techno Park building is envisioned to initiate a collaborative, interactive and flexible business environment and to cultivate a sense of community for students and entrepreneur startups. Therefore, we took on the responsibility of renovating the interior to quarter an ecosystem of spaces that breed innovation. Our scope involved the design of combined social and office production zones, varied office space needs for teams/individuals, different work modes (focus, collaboration, learning, and social), and different levels of formality and privacy.
The different user needs of The PITP called for a variety of rental options and the considerate design of four kinds of office spaces: individual co-working desks, start-ups shared offices, corporate offices open space offices, and innovation labs. This enables students and public users to leapfrog into innovation through a cluster of creative collaboration. In addition, users have access to kitchenettes, phone booths, conference rooms and seminar room booking; services also include shared office equipment services like printing/scanning, storage lockers, and mailboxes. To top it all off, a roof top with exceptional views was well-thought-out; it is a social hotspot for everyone to enjoy their time and exchange their thoughts overlooking the prestigious campus of Birzeit University, historic Palestine, and the Mediterranean Sea in the horizon. Last but not least, in terms of sustainability, solar panels were installed facing the East to cover the building’s energy usage as much as possible.
