Amman - Jordan
Located on Queen Rania Street, the building consists of two existing buildings. Building A comprises of 13 floors and building B comprises of 15 floors. However, both are connected with a steel structure from the Ground Floor up to the 10th floor. The design intent was to transform this abandoned property into a 20,000m2 3+ star hotel, through a contemporary approach. On the ground floor, the main entrance leads to a waiting lounge and receptions. A business lounge and cyber café have also been added with a satellite kitchen for service, as well as an administrative office, shops, a beauty center and a barber shop.
There are a total of 175 guestrooms in the hotel from the second to the eighth floor, each floor consists of various room types. The ninth floor contains 3 specialty restaurant outlets, a swimming pool and Jacuzzi with a pool bar and services. Since the existing structure stood bare and untouched for many years beforehand, this became a critical structural challenge during design and construction. In addition, the external building façade has been redesigned and cladded with stone, with the addition of planter boxes; this rendered a more attractive and welcoming building. Likewise, the fragmented modular design of the windows provided a striking dynamic counterpoint to the existing buildings in its surrounding.
